Welcome to our nature resort "Ostsee Baumhotel", your retreat in the Bungsberg nature reserve on the Baltic Sea. Located right next to an idyllic alder quarry, you can expect wide meadows where Galloways and fallow deer graze and a charming meadow orchard that offers a special flair in every season and experience nature at eye level.
Discover the diversity of the local flora and fauna on our 2 km nature trail or enjoy the tranquillity of our renaturalised ponds and the small adjoining alder forest. Around the Ostsee Baumhaus Hotel, an approximately 2 km long nature trail invites you to explore the surrounding nature of our private, 17-hectare area.
The path leads through a typical North German cultural landscape, which is being renaturalised piece by piece. Here you will find native tree species such as oaks, beeches, hawthorns and chestnuts and, with a bit of luck, you may spot deer, hares or the rare pheasant.
Birds such as the great spotted woodpecker and great tit nest in the trees and hedges, while the occasional buzzard circles in the sky. Smaller animals such as squirrels and hedgehogs are also at home here.
The hiking trail is perfect for a relaxing walk, even with dogs on a lead. Take time for a reading break or enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature.
Along the way, you will reach the highest point on the site - 64 metres above sea level - from where you have a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea in good weather. This is only around 3.9 kilometres away.
The nature trail was specially created by the Ostsee Baumhaus Hotel to bring our guests closer to the beauty of nature and to create an awareness of how to treat the environment with respect. It is a quiet retreat that offers you the opportunity to experience the flora and fauna of the region in their natural state.

Right next to the tree houses is our 5,000m2 meadow orchard, which has been planted with (still very young) regional fruit trees such as plums, apples, cherries and pears.
Our orchard creates a natural transition zone between the tree houses and the surrounding nature. Our guests can explore the meadow on a walk or simply enjoy the special atmosphere created by the interplay of nature and sustainable design.
The different varieties of fruit are not only a highlight at blossom and harvest time, but also contribute to the preservation of regional biodiversity, as they provide a valuable habitat for native animal and plant species. The alder forest right next to the Baltic Sea tree house hotel is a small, fascinating natural jewel. With its moist soil and old alders, it provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. The forest invites you to carefully explore its unspoilt nature - however, the ground is swampy and impassable, so sturdy footwear is helpful.
It is precisely this unspoilt nature that makes the alder quarry forest such a special experience and a place where you can discover nature in its original form. A piece of wild beauty that invites you to marvel!
An idyllic sight awaits you in front of the Ostsee Baumhaushotel: Extensive meadows where our peaceful Galloways graze. These robust Galloway cattle, originally from Scotland, are not only an eye-catcher, but also actively contribute to the maintenance of the landscape. Their calm demeanour and characteristic shaggy coat make them a special attraction right in front of your tree house.
Enjoy the sight of the Galloways at breakfast on the terrace or watch as they wander relaxed across the meadows - an authentic nature experience that will make your stay with us unique. The Ostsee Baumhaushotel is a paradise for birdwatchers. The renaturalised ponds, orchards and vast meadows provide a habitat for numerous bird species, including rare migratory birds and native species. From the private tree house or along the nature trail, you can observe grey herons, robins, buzzards, falcons, white-tailed eagles and many other fascinating birds in their natural habitat. Binoculars are available in every tree house so that you can experience the wildlife up close. With us, birdwatching becomes a relaxing and educational experience.
