Baltic Sea tree house hotel in the trade journal Hotelbau - Focus of the trade magazine for sustainable hotel construction
The Ostsee Baumhaushotel was presented in the specialist magazine for architecture, sustainable building and hotel concepts. The focus is not only on the special location at treetop level, but above all on the well thought-out overall concept - from the initial idea through to ongoing operation.
The article shows how an established location has been transformed into a retreat that combines nature, architecture and tranquillity.

A tree house hotel - rethought
In contrast to traditional tree houses, the accommodation is not built in the trees, but deliberately on stilts. This means that the roots, soil structure and water balance remain untouched.
The architecture follows a clear principle:
As little intervention as possible - as much impact as necessary.
Sustainability with substance
Sustainability is not an add-on, but the basis of the entire project:
- Use of durable, deconstructable materials
- Timber construction with a focus on natural ageing
- Energy-efficient construction according to current standards
- Use of air heat pumps for heating and cooling
- Reduced land consumption and minimised sealing
The goal is not a perfect ideal, but a system that works in the long term and continues to evolve.
Architecture that creates peace and quiet
The design of the tree houses is deliberately minimalist:
- light-coloured woods
- clear lines
- large panoramic windows
- flowing transition between inside and outside
Nature is not staged, but remains what it is - present, calm and undisguised.
A retreat instead of a classic hotel
The focus is not on the classic hotel concept, but on a place to switch off:
"A quiet retreat, conceived from the first sketch to operation."
The combination of location, architecture and deliberate reduction creates space for what is often lacking in everyday life: peace, distance and time.
Between meadows and treetops
The tree houses blend into a mature landscape:
- renaturalised areas
- open meadows
- natural lines of sight
Guests do not experience a staged park here, but an environment that has developed organically.
