Around the Ostsee Baumhaus Hotel , an approximately 2 km long nature trail invites you to explore the surrounding nature of our private, 17-hectare area.
The path leads through a typical North German cultural landscape, which is being renaturalised piece by piece. Here you will find native tree species such as oaks, beeches, hawthorns and chestnuts and, with a bit of luck, you may spot deer, hares or the rare pheasant.
Birds such as the great spotted woodpecker and great tit nest in the trees and hedges, while the occasional buzzard circles in the sky. Smaller animals such as squirrels and hedgehogs are also at home here.
The hiking trail at the tree house hotel is perfect for a relaxing walk, even with dogs on a lead. Take time for a reading break or enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature.
Along the way, you will reach the highest point on the site - 64 metres above sea level - from where you have a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea in good weather. This is only around 3.9 kilometres away.
The nature trail was specially created by the Ostsee Baumhaus Hotel to bring our guests closer to the beauty of nature and to create an awareness of how to treat the environment with respect. It is a quiet retreat that offers you the opportunity to experience the flora and fauna of the region in their natural state.

Right next to the treehouses lies our 5,000 m² orchard meadow, which has been planted with regional fruit trees (still very young; planted in 2025) such as plums, apples, cherries and pears.
Our still-young orchard is already bearing its first fruit. Depending on the season, you’ll find apples, plums, damsons, cherries or pears there.
And there’s plenty growing in the rest of the nature reserve too, just waiting to be discovered as you wander around: older fruit trees, blackberries, sloes and other wild edible fruits.
If something is ripe and you can clearly see that it is edible, you’re welcome to help yourself and have a snack right there on the spot.
For many of our guests, this is precisely one of the little surprises we offer: picking an apple from a tree whilst out for a walk, spotting a few blackberries or tasting a ripe plum straight from the branch.
Anything that is ripe and clearly edible is fine to pick. If you’re unsure about any plants or fruits, please leave them be.
Our orchard meadow creates a natural transition zone between the treehouses and the surrounding countryside. Our guests can explore the meadow whilst out for a walk or simply enjoy the special atmosphere created by the interplay of nature and sustainable design.
The different varieties of fruit are not only a highlight during the flowering and harvest seasons, but also contribute to the preservation of regional biodiversity, as they provide a valuable habitat for native plant and animal species. An idyllic sight awaits you in front of the Ostsee Baumhaushotel: Extensive meadows where our peaceful Galloways graze. These robust Galloway cattle, originally from Scotland, are not only an eye-catcher, but also actively contribute to the maintenance of the landscape. Their calm demeanour and characteristic shaggy coat make them a special attraction right in front of your tree house.
Enjoy the sight of the Galloways at breakfast on the terrace or watch as they wander relaxed across the meadows - an authentic nature experience that will make your stay with us unique. All around the Baltic Sea Treehouse Hotel, ponds, meadows, orchard meadows and semi-wild areas provide a variety of habitats for native and migratory birds. With a little patience, various bird species can be spotted from the paths, terraces and quiet natural areas – including grey herons, robins, buzzards and falcons. Particularly impressive is the white-tailed eagle, which can regularly be seen soaring over the grounds and the surrounding area.
There are binoculars in every treehouse, so you can experience spontaneous moments in nature first-hand – from the first birdsong in the morning to views across the meadows and ponds.
